Who are Pam and Dean?
We are both travel enthusiasts and full-time working professionals. Who, like you, found we didn’t have enough hours in the day. After learning about travel hacking and how to save massive money on trips, we started taking our family on dream vacations.
Now we want to share that information with all our family and friends so they can do the same.
We have been able to travel to places we never thought possible just a year ago. Now, we are doing it debt-free. Have you ever longed to take a dream vacation? Follow along on our journey, and we will share all the great ups and downs we have along the way, like the time when Dean booked a non-refundable hotel at Stonehenge for the wrong Month.
Why are we here?
You might be wondering where the name Award Travel Adventures comes from or think it seems kinda strange. The fact is it fits perfectly into what we do. I began listening to a lot of podcasts on my commute. No, seriously, I spend 4 hours a day driving. I had to fill my time with helpful information. That’s when I stumbled on travel hacking or, more appropriately, travel credit card hacking.
Staring Our Journey
I have always hated credit cards; however, I learned to simply switch my method of payment at the gas station and grocery stores from my debt to the right credit card. Remember I drive 4 hours a day for work. That equals about $500 a month in gas. Switching to one credit that gave me 3x points per dollar spent at the pump and an 80,000 point bonus when I met the minimum spend that could easily be done on my gas alone was the best decision I ever made. You can find more about that in our Citi Premier card post. We never carry a balance on any credit card. I simply set them up on auto pay from your checking account, which works no differently than a debit card. Well, except for taking free flights and having free hotel stays.
